• L’indole fondamentale dello specchio è l’indifferenza: qualunque sia l’immagine che cattura, non riesce a trattenerla. Nel video si svolge un tentativo di fermare l’immagine. Si vede una donna che guarda. Dopo pochi secondi si comprende che si sta specchiando, aggiustandosi i capelli. Si accinge a rimettersi in ordine, guarda in basso, forse sta per truccarsi. Invece sfodera un pennarello. Traccia sulla superficie dello specchio un’immagine. A poco a poco, dà forma ai contorni del proprio volto. È un passaggio dalla periferia al centro: l’immagine vivente traccia nel centro vuoto dello specchio il disegno della sua immagine permanente.

4. The mirror’s fundamental nature is indifference: no matter what image it captures, it cannot hold it. The video attempts to capture the image. There’s a woman gazing outward. After few seconds you understand that she is looking at herself in the mirror, adjusting her hair. She is putting herself in order; looking down, perhaps she is putting on her make-up. Instead, she pulls out a marker and draws an image on the mirror. Little by little, she traces the outline of her face. It is a passage from the outskirts to the centre: the living image draws its own permanent picture in the empty centre of the mirror.
